Privacy Policy
DRAFT — not the final text. The final Privacy Policy is published here by 26 October 2026, before the app is released.
Your name and address, ID and bank numbers are masked on your phone — and you see exactly what's sent, every time, before it leaves.
Where your letters are
Postklar never stores your letters on its own servers. The photos, the text and the explanations stay on your phone, and in your own iCloud if you turn on iCloud backup. There is no account.
What leaves your phone, and why
| What | Where it goes | Why, and for how long |
|---|---|---|
| The letter's text, after masking on your phone, with the language you want the explanation in and the country the letter is from | Postklar's server, then OpenAI | To write the explanation. Postklar's server keeps none of it. OpenAI keeps it for up to 30 days for abuse checks and does not use it for training. |
| Request records: when a request came, how long it took, its status and error category, token counts — never the letter's text | Postklar's server logs (Cloudflare) | To run and fix the service. Kept for the log provider's retention period. |
| A random install identifier and monthly counters | Postklar's server | To count the free letters and the fair use of Pro. Counters per month. |
| Your App Store purchase (the transaction Apple signed) | Postklar's server | To check that Pro is active, and that one subscription is used on at most 5 devices in 30 days. Kept until the subscription ends, plus 30 days. Apple processes the payment. |
| Usage counts: which screens were seen, permissions given, purchases started — codes and counts only, never letter content | TelemetryDeck (EU), product analytics | To see where the app is hard to use. Sent under a random identifier that exists only for this, is replaced every month, and is not linked to you or to the install identifier above. |
Processors
- OpenAI: writes the explanation from the masked text.
- TelemetryDeck: product analytics; data not linked to you; no letter content.
- Cloudflare: runs Postklar's server.
- Apple: the App Store, payments and, if you turn it on, iCloud.
Sharing a letter
When you share a letter from the app, you send it yourself, through your phone's share sheet. It does not pass through Postklar.
Contact
